A team of Capstone students built a human-powered drill that will help Tanzanians drill the 250 feet required to access clean drinking water.

Alumni Dave and Rachel Weidman have donated $10 million to fund a new center in the Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology.  

BYU Engineering Leadership Symposium coming to campus

The BYU Engineering Leadership Symposium will be March 10, 2011 from 2:00 - 4:30 p.m. in 377 Clyde Building.   Coach Brandon Doman of the BYU Cougars and Kevin Schultz, VP of R&D of National Instruments speak about leadership and more.

BYU CE students head to seismic design competiton

Students will head to San Diego to compete in an international competition that pits student-built structures against simulated earthquakes. Student teams will be competing Feb. 10-11 in an annual undergraduate competition sponsored by the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute.

Financial planning workshops for engineers

SAE in conjunction with ASME and the Marriott Business School are sponsoring a seven-week financial planning workshop series specifically for engineers.  All students in the Ira A. Industrial Design Symposium set for Feb. 24-25

Lectures and workshops will feature reps from Tupperware, Kate Spade, Face Plant, Gravitytank and more.  Thursday's lectures are open to the public. 

ME student trains El Salvadorans to make prosthetics

David Williams engineered an inexpensive prosthetic for amputees. This summer he traveled to El Salvador to train the locals how to build the below-the-knee prosthetic.

2010 AIChE president to give college lecture

Henry Kohlbrand, 2010 president of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, will deliver the college lecture Feb. 3 in 140 JSB.  He is a retired executive from Dow Chemical.
