The inorganic properties of coal also differ significantly from biomass.   Inorganic components in coal vary by rank and geographic region, as with the organic components.  As a class, coal has more aluminum, iron, and titanium than biomass.  Biomass has more silica, potassium, and some times calcium than coal.
